Compact Listening Booth; Through the Static

Compact Listening Booth; Through the Static

This is the video showing the four mechanisms involved; hinging, sliding, folding and flipping.

(Front View)
2 tables to place iPads and 2 hooks to hang the wireless headphones.
This area is for users to purely just enjoy music while leaning on the wall. It is also designed to look and function like an anechoic chamber.

(Side View)
Mechanism involved: Flipping
The racks can be flipped in 360 degrees motion to enable the user to grab magazines easily from any direction.

(Folded Back View)

(Folded Side View)

(Unfold Back View)
Mechanism involved: Folding/ Hinging
The back which focuses on watching music videos as well as listening to music consists of a roof and a chair. This area creates a darker atmosphere for users to watch it clearly. The roof swings up and down as it opens and closes.

(Elevation after unfolding)
Mechanism involved: Sliding
The cover of the touch screen can be slided up and down. The hook beside it is also to place the wireless headphone.

Through the Static also takes in Soft Rock characteristics. As Soft Rock focuses on easy listening, the designs involved are sitting and leaning. It does not require a large area for any major (dance) movements and instead it focuses on soundproof system, anechoic chamber. This listening booth can cater up to 3 persons.

Rhythm Wall

Rhythm Wall

Love Chemistry

Back

Front

This project; Rhythm Wall was assigned to us according to the genre that has been given to us. As for my case, my genre is Soft Rock. I chose to create partition wall. I wanted to portray LOVE, ROMANCE, DEEP for my project this time.

LOVE, as this rhythm wall is inverted, a heart shape can be seen to describe love. The veins on it means the veins of the heart, showing that our heart skips a beat when we fall in love.

ROMANCE; I wanted to portray something romantic through this. Hence, when my rhythm wall is projected with yellow light in a dark room (as shown in the first picture), it is able to create a romantic feel.

DEEP; meaning that with the power of love, anyone could fall in love deeply. Relationships could be deep as well. So I created depth using layers of papers to show the deep meaning of love/ relationships.

I used LOVE CHEMISTRY because I believe chemistry happens when anyone falls in love. It is capable of making people to experience 'love at the first sight'.
Hence I sewed the shape of a 'dopamine' at the back of my rhythm wall. Dopamine is a chemical structure found in all human which is the cell responsible for 'love at the first sight'.

My main objective is to portray love and relationships on my Rhythm Wall as it is the main characteristics of Soft Rock.

Infographic Board: Soft Rock

Infographic Board: Soft Rock

The task given this time, a group project, is to understand music better according to the music genre assigned to respective groups. Everyone is grouped by random and is given different music genres.  We have to explore the theme, characteristic, music expression and inspiration of the music genre.

Together, we have to produce an A1 size infographic board containing all the necessary information about soft rock. We used gold, black and red as our main colours. Other than that, we used more of a minimalistic approach to produce this board as to complement the style of soft rock.

I got Soft Rock by random as my music genre, together with my other teammates; Risyad, Sabrina, Wafaa and Min Wei. We completed this board with success within the time given.
